In September 2024, Ruta del Vino de Toro conducted a piloting phase for the HeritAccess project, with 20 participants testing the newly developed platform designed to make heritage sites more accessible. The platform, featuring panoramic tours of different wineries of the consortium country cities, received positive feedback for its usability and accessibility. The HeritAccess platform, available in multiple languages, allows users to virtually explore the winery and other heritage sites, offering an immersive experience for individuals with mobility or visual impairments. The app includes features such as auditory descriptions and screen reader modes, ensuring an inclusive cultural experience for all users.
The pilot survey, which gathered 156 responses, showed a high level of satisfaction with the app’s design and functionality. Participants praised the ease of navigation, the clarity of audio descriptions, and the detailed presentation of panoramic images. The digital content was particularly appreciated for helping users experience inaccessible sites and explore traditional rural heritage. Overall, the results highlight the app’s success in making cultural heritage more accessible, positioning the HeritAccess platform as a valuable tool for promoting inclusivity in heritage tourism.
